Hmm..now there can be a lot of such things happening around if we see them the way we want to.
What is wrong in it?
I couldn't understand :(
@Tarun -
What is wrong in it?
you mean besides the fact that they have used republic day as a big branding exercise for a foreign brand?...so many things...
Tarun:
Think its the "Italian" connection he is harping on.
Originality is something that Indians lack when it comes to the creative field.....does KBC, Big Boss, Indian Idol ring a bell? But out advertisements rock
he he, We can trust you to unravel the darkest political mysteries :)
How does it affect man?And this is our assumption that this is derived from UCB, who knows what is lying behind.
To answer your question, bro, I am not Bangladeshi by origin. My parents are of Indian origin and I grew up mostly in the West. I have also lived in Delhi and Bombay (love Bombay, actually). We have some business in B'desh, and hence I often visit the country. Also cuz its such a contrast from most other cities I've lived in. At any rate, love your blog. Shobhaa De is something else. Singularly responsible for corrupting people once close to me, ha ha. Sorry, I edited the comment on my blog (don't usually do this, won't, henceforth :) There's every possibility I may rant about the Bangladeshi politics and government at some point on my blog (risky business), hence only using my first name.
Hypocrisy, thy name is Mankind! Period.
I think you should write a book about Indian Politics and Italy and name it 'The Italian Connection'
ha ha...not as good as the RSS one, but funny nonetheless.
@Tarun: Nothing very much wrong, as in no serious hanky-panky, if that's what you mean.
But the fact that our governments flick ad ideas from a kapda ka company is slightly jarring.
@Raju: Arre, no yaar. I don't think it’s as deep a conspiracy as that.
@Satyajit: Yes, our ads do rock...the private ones at least do.
@Rakesh: Of course you can!
@Sajid: Thanks for liking the blog, dude. A Dhakaite on the blogging scene is somewhat of a rarity, so was a bit curious.
@Rampant: And cats. I hate that species too. Selfish as hell, man.
@Tazeen: Or 'The Italian Job'! Damn, that's what I should have named this post.
@Nobody: Dude, nothing can be as funny as the RSS!
Hey, I love all Benetton ads and the beautiful idea behind them. We can learn some lessons in being United from those ads :)
IHM,
Yup, they are striking, aren't they. Actually, some of the more controversial ones (new born baby etc) haven't bee released in India. Do check them out on the website.

Srividya,
The second picture is an ad published in various newspapers by the Delhi Government on the occasion of Republic Day. I must have taken a screen shot from some e-paper.
I read all the comments and understood that u guys have misunderstood the ad. Only education (Pencils) can lead us to UNITY (This is the thought behind the ad). See the logo of Sarv Shiksha Abhiyaan. It has nothing to do with Benetton. Just because Benetton has used the words UNITED and COLORS earlier, only they have the copyright to use these words? Ridiculous. I have conceptualized the ad. That's why; I am writing in.
